The TP85‐8 Air Drive Unit (ADU), also referred to as a Pneumatic Drive Turbine assembly, provides supplementary hydraulic power for the hydraulic system of an aircraft experiencing high load conditions. The turbine assemblies will also provide emergency hydraulic power should the engine‐driven hydraulic pumps onboard the aircraft fail to operate. The TP85‐8 ADU is driven by bleed air from the aircraft engine and is controlled by a three‐position control switch in the cockpit.

The hydromechnical unit, HMU for short, is a critical component that functions to regulate fuel supplied to the fuel injectors based on the throttle position commanded and the state of operation of the engine.

The Stator is the stationary part of the AC Motor. The rotor is the rotating electrical component. The Assembly provides electrical power to various systems within the engine.

The Thrust Reverser Cowl Actuator (inboard) is a single-acting actuator used to open the thrust reverser cowl door on the 737 MAX engine nacelle. It includes integral extend locks which hold the door open once the actuator is extended. The actuator has one port for extension with retraction being accomplished by the cowl door weight.

The Alternate Landing Gear Extension Power Pack includes two separate channels of hydraulic power generation, each fed by independent DC electric motors, motor controllers, and hydraulic gear pumps. An integral manifold (containing various simple valves) and a spring loaded hydraulic reservoir are also included.

The Landing Gear Bypass Selector Valve controls the landing gear on the 737MAX Aircraft. The valve directs hydraulic pressure to the landing gear actuators, which extend or retract the landing gear, and bypasses flow from the retract chambers of the main and nose landing gear actuators when the manual extension system is operated. The valve contains 3 solenoid valves and 2 spool and sleeve valves.

The reservoir is a tank in which an adequate supply of fluid for the system is stored. Fluid flows from the reservoir to the pump, where it is forced through the system and eventually returned to the reservoir.

The Hydraulic Start Motor is used to provide the output torque and shaft speed required for starting the V-22 Tiltrotor Aircraft main engines. The starter is comprised of a variable-displacement hydraulic motor with an integrally housed flow control valve and sprag clutch.

This hydraulic motor (also known as “Hydrive”) is a bi-directional, fixed displacement axial piston device which extracts energy from high pressure hydraulic fluid and transforms it into torque available at the output shaft. It is used on the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) JSF gun system.

This Engine Driven Pump is a variable displacement pump which extracts mechanical power from the gearbox accessory pad and converts it into hydraulic power available for use by the various actuators and other consumers on the AH-64 Apache aircraft. The maximum displacement of the pump is 0.182 CIPR and it is capable of providing 6 gpm of flow.

The EFP-630 or Engine Fuel Pump, is a combined high speed centrifugal main fuel pump and afterburner fuel pump system which delivers both gas generator and afterburner fuel flow. The main fuel pump consists of two centrifugal impellers in series for supplying gas generator flow. The afterburner fuel pump consists of a single centrifugal impeller and modulating throttle valve for supplying afterburner flow.

Airframe mounted accessory drives (AMADs) — Every TRIUMPH Geared Solutions accessory drive is built to the highest standards of precision and reliability. The AMAD provides power for the aircraft’s hydraulic pumps, auxiliary fuel pumps and electrical generators. It also provides engine starting capability by transmitting power from auxiliary power units. Our AMADs incorporate carburized and ground gearing and, if the specification requires, AGMA Class 14 standards. Each drive is designed for high power density to minimize weight. Special features such as self-pressurizing lubrication systems assure proper operation at all altitudes within a given flight envelope. The AMADs also contain a disconnect feature which allows ground crews to disconnect the unit for maintenance and performance of electronic and hydraulic systems checks without the engine running.

Fuel flow transmitters measure the flow rate of fuel through the component. As more fuel is flowed, more torque is applied to a turbine assembly. This torque creates distance between two magnetic pick-off’s which in turn creates distance between the electrical signal generated. The electrical signal is interpreted by a computer and a fuel flow rate is calculated.

Aircraft fuel pumps are designed to move a significant volume of fuel from the tanks to the engine by way of the fuel system. They are shaft powered, employ a variety of motive means and require specialized test equipment to verify proper flow rates and volumes.
